Opening the cottage should be the fun part of summer, not a chore that eats your first weekend. A little order makes it easy. Here’s a simple checklist, with the windows sorted before you arrive.
Before you head up
- Confirm the water and hydro are back on.
- Book seasonal services early. Spring fills up fast.
- Book your window clean for before your first visit, so you walk into clear glass instead of a winter’s worth of film. We can do it while you’re still at home.
The first day up
- Air the place out and check for winter moisture or pests.
- Turn on the water, run the taps and check for leaks.
- Wipe down surfaces and clean out the fridge.
- Check the deck, screens and outdoor furniture.
The windows: the job people leave too late
After a winter closed up, cottage glass carries film, pollen and old webs, worst of all under the pines. Having it cleaned before you arrive means the view is there on day one. We clean the glass, frames, tracks, sills and screens with pure water and finish with RainBlock, so rain beads off and the glass stays clear longer.
